“I am Dr. Ray Basri. I have an internal medicine and diagnostic cardiology practice in Middletown and Montgomery New York. I've always had a special place in my heart for Columbia since I began college there in 1973.

Being in Orange County, we often make specialty referrals to Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Locally we have the Columbia Doctors cardiology group to coordinate care.

I've been a participating physician with the Columbia Affiliated Physicians for 10 years. My practice benefits from both clinical and administrative collaboration. Through the IPA we collect quality metrics to improve the quality of care for our patients as well as gain additional support through managed care contracting.

Negotiating with managed care through a messenger model IPA has significantly improved our financial position. The IPA also includes physician assistants and nurse practitioners, which again greatly benefited our practice.
